US Open 2018: All the Best Looks
On the rolling expanse that is Shinnecock Hills Golf Club on the east end of Long Island, NY, professional golfers and fans alike gathered for the 2018 US Open. The event, which featured players from around the world, finished on a truly high note for Americans, with the final leaderboard featuring Americans in four of the five top places.
Men’s golf fashions were the topic of discussion nearly as frequently as who finished on top at the end of each round. Many players sported their patriotic pride, wearing their country’s colors, while some wore their signature colors to the crowd’s delight. Each was dressed by a major sports line from the top of their heads to their footwear selection.
Bubba Watson, the player known for his patriotic ensembles, led the way with red, white and blue combinations from Thursday through Sunday. His footwear choice this year was the G/FORE Disrupter shoe. His choice is very toned-down for Watson, known more typically for wild styles. We surmise he chose these to easily walk the course at Shinnecock Hills.
Adidas dressed Dustin Johnson and Sergio Garcia, each wearing the Tour360 Knit Shoes. The comfortable shoe made walking through the course comfortable while coordinating with the rest of their respective ensembles from Thursday through Sunday’s days of play.
Callaway, the company known for making golf equipment and accessories, saw Marc Leishman wearing their La Grange Golf Shoe. The clean, classic design was a perfect completer look for his ensemble and had a visibly significant amount of foot support to make getting through 18 holes a breeze.
Under Armour was the choice for Jordan Spieth. His look was sporty and clean, and worked well with his footwear namesake, the UA Spieth 2. Available in solid white or a split black/white look, this style is designed to hug your foot and provide the needed support for a full round of play.
Bryson DeChambeau wore Puma from head to toe for the four days of the Open. His footwear choice was Puma’s PWRADAPT leather golf shoes, a powerful looking option that has added a little kick to DeChambeau’s step.
Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, and all of the other major brands were present during the round on June 14-17th. Each put their best foot forward (a little cobbler humor is good for our souls every now and again) by having one of these professional golfers as their fashion ambassadors. Each hopes their products will be worn by the eventual winner of the title. The 2018 US Open winner, as we all know by now, was Brooks Koepka. Known for his super-casual look – with one item of ‘pop’, Koepka did not disappoint. His entire outfit was a soft to medium gray. That is, of course, until you look at his footwear choice. Koepka, dressed in Nike, chose their Golf Tour Premier PE sneaker, a bright white option with a deep orange sole and Nike logo along the shoe’s outer side.
Stay tuned for the US Open Tennis coming at the end of August through the first week of September. We anticipate some great fashion statements there as tennis’ top professionals compete for the high honors for 2018.
