NYFW Shoes: Winter 2016-2017
From pretty in pink to a platform parade, we've rounded up of some of the most noteworthy footwear from New York Fashion Week's Spring/Summer 2017 shows.
Alice + Olivia
The metallic, ankle-wrap espadrilles might have initially caught our eye, but it was the chic tote with the Betty Boop pout that hooked us for good. Judging by Alice + Olivia's femme-forward stylings, next spring is going to be a very flirty affair.
Rag + Bone
Championing Marcus Wainwright's solo debut on the catwalk, Rag + Bone dipped into the archives for the Spring 2017 collection. Our favorite find? The low, white ankle booties (and also that pinstripe pair). Plus, if you're all about athleisure, scoop the brand's red leather boots - a perfect match with the label's scarlet sweat-set.
Alexander Wang sent down the runway arguably the most comfortable shoes for spring. You will find us in mocs all next spring - preferably embellished with metal rings and plenty of fringe, of course.
The NY-based design duo, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, offer their take on how to set off sky-high hemlines - with towering heels, of course. Our pick of the presentation featured statement platforms outlined in crimson. Editor's Tip: keep the pedi neutral and your gams smooth next summer.
Beloved for its mixed-prints and accessories collections, J. Crew was back for spring with a light-as-air lineup that we want to wear right now. Take a lead from the American brand, and pair your petal pink heels with gender neutral stripes for a look that's effortless cool.
Featuring carved heels with contrasting metallic - or white - uppers, Prabal Gurung's power heels offered a fresh take on the feminine aesthetic. Worn with fluid separates (think long, loose knits - sometimes with a feathery flair - and skirts), the footwear was clean, practical and very New York.
