New York Fashion Week Fall 2016 Footwear Recap

Just as all eyes turn to the runways of London, and Milan and Paris after that, let’s take a look at some of the statement shoes from New York Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2016.

In another era, footwear might have been a (very) necessary add-on for designers, but now the accessory is a full-fledged fashion statement – some would say every inch important as the clothes (we are in that camp, obviously). Next fall, your favorite pairs will be playful, yet practical – thanks to a plethora of walk-able heels making their way down the catwalk. Here, a brief overview of what we’re looking to shop next season:

Tory Burch: Burch knows what girls want to wear. For next winter that means a thick heel, a sexy print and crisscross straps, of course. Style with a skirt or dress, with a reasonably high hem all the better for showing off these beauties.

Rag & Bone: You can thank designers, Nathan Bogle and Marcus Wainwright, for this lace-up patent look. The heels, like the soles, are built to last and ready to stroll the city’s streets without too much effort.

Rag & Bone

Rodarte: A bit theatrical, a bit seventies, the Mulleavy sisters’ latest design is perfect for Saturday night – or for dressing up your casual business appropriate attire. Dare to wear, and step confidently in these funnel-shaped heels.

Tommy Hilfiger: A little gold lame plus a chunky heel might sound a bit extravagant for winter. We say: go there. Add socks for extra fashion flare.

Alexander Wang: We can always rely on Alex Wang to supply next-season’s most urban interpretation of style. For fall, ankle boots are studded with gunmetal grommets up the last and down the heels. Walk tall, ladies.

Jason Wu: The designer makes a departure from the pack, and goes tall, skinny and velvet. Wu’s shoes make a strong case for the dainty ladylike looks you’ve stashed in your wardrobe.
