Met Ball 2015: Accessories on the Red Carpet

This year's Met Gala China: Through the looking glass, paid tribute to the Far East, however; how designers and celebrities interpreted this was another matter entirely.

While there's no denying it was the year of the sheer dress (hello, Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez et al), and the red dress (Amal Clooney, Reese Witherspoon, Gigi Hadid), shoes were often strappy and - always - towering. But, if any accessory could upstage the main event, it would be the handbag with stars like Diane Kruger, Karolina Kurkova, Chrissy Teigen and Lily Aldridge (who sported a fish bag) opting for ornate clutches or minaudiere styles.

Take a look at our favorite footwear and handbag moments from fashion's biggest night.

Olivia Pope fans had much to celebrate Monday night as 'Scandal' star Kerry Washington stepped out in head-to-toe Prada. There's nothing we like more than a statement heel, and Washington's jade green pair - with matching bag - did not disappoint.

Beyonce put it all on display at the Met Ball. Lucky for us that gave us a glimpse at the 'Drunk In Love' singer's nude ankle-strap sandals, which were certainly an understated counterpart to her Givenchy gown.

Sarah Jessica Parker took a dramatic turn in a custom H&M dress, Philip Treacy head piece and lacy ankle boots that felt perfectly in line with her aesthetic for the night.

Always wearing it on my sleeve...on my way !! #MET#crazyObamatraffic#cantreallysitinmyoutfit @chanelofficial

Diane Kruger shared a snap of her all-over embellished heart clutch - worn with a beaded top and pants by Chanel couture , of course.

Model Lily Aldridge had, perhaps, the best bag of the night: there's no other fish in the sea if you ask us. But who had your best look? Tweet us @CobblerStyle
